![]() Ride testing began in early 2012 with soft openings the following spring. At the "What's Next?" presentation at Disney California Adventure on June 11, 2010, Imagineer Kathy Mangum gave a brief rundown of the attraction's storyline. By late 2009, construction on the attraction and the land within it began and was finished two and a half years later. However, the first indication of the attraction and the new land was some concept art published in the Dreaming section of The Walt Disney Company's 2006 annual report. The attraction, along with the rest of the Disney California Adventure multi-year expansion, was announced on October 17, 2007. Later, at the suggestion of John Lasseter, the entire Carland project would be revised into Cars Land, focused around a full recreation of the town of Radiator Springs. When the project's lead creative Kevin Rafferty had heard of Pixar's plans for a film based around cars, racing and Route 66, the drag racer was revised into an attraction based on the film utilizing the ride system of Test Track. ![]() The E-Ticket attraction for this proposal was a racing coaster simply called Drag Racer. Sadly in 2023 Lizzie died and the town became very sad. In 2017, Cruz Ramirez would start living there since McQueen suggested her to. Because of This Radiator Springs was put back on the map for the first time in 20 Years and Route 66 was revived as historic Route 66 and the town became popular again, 2009 was a sad year for Radiator Springs since Doc Hudson died, but the town was still popular. In 2005, Lightning McQueen was lost there that year but decided to move there as he liked Radiator Springs. Sally Carrera came to town sometime between the late '90s and early 2000s. In 1985, Route 66 was decommissioned and Radiator Springs was taken off the map. Radiator Springs was very popular like in the '40s-'70s until 1984 when The Interstate 40 was finally built after many years and cars bypassed the town and cars stopped coming to Radiator Springs and even worse, Stanley died and was one of the saddest years of RS. Ramone, Flo, Tow Mater, Red, and Luigi and Guido started to live there in the mid-late '70s and early '80s. In 1970, a 40-years-old Doc Hudson came to town and in the next two years, he became doctor and judge of the town. Unknown people also started living there in the 1960s. Also, Stanley Model met Lizzie one year later and both married in 1948.ĭuring the late 1950s, Sarge and Sheriff both started living there. 8 years later in 1945, the town started to become popular as many people came to live there. In 1937, an old Ford Model T named Stanley founded the town of Radiator Springs in the middle of Carburetor County.
